Through Her Eyes: The Depths of a Mother’s Love

There’s a unique kind of magic in a mother’s love, an unwavering force that molds us into who we are and remains a constant source of strength, even when the world feels uncertain. As I reflect on my own life, I realize that being a mother is not just a purely role but a transformation. She was also once a child who would cry when her parents did not get her toys, a teenager who went through puberty, an adult who experienced various challenges, a wife who showed unconditional love towards her better half and finally, a mother who gets to relive her life all over again through us. Occasionally, it bothers us when our mother asks us to do things that align with her interests. For instance, when she asked me to dance in front of all my family and that one time I had to sing a nursery rhyme We may find these little things disturbing at times, yet we fail to see that she is only hoping we can do the things she wasn’t able to do at our age.

As I grew older, I came to appreciate the sacrifices my mother made with such grace and resilience. Her life was a series of selfless acts, often unseen but deeply impactful. She put her own dreams on hold to ensure that I had every opportunity to pursue mine. It was not just the big sacrifices that defined her, but the countless small ones–the sleepless nights spent caring for me when I was ill, the quiet encouragement she gave when I doubted myself, being my personal driver and personal “butler” who could cook chicken curry whenever I craved for some. Each of these sacrifices often go unnoticed and not appreciated.

A mother, who’s just a human being like any other, but shoulders the weight of holding the strings of family together. The one person who can be a moderator to the other family member, the one person who can coax the other, and convince the other parent; the one who holds the family together finding solutions for every problem at hand. Whereby in the midst of heated arguments, ‘stones’ may hit her hard but she’d still tirelessly and endlessly stand by her family and children to hold a family together.

To my eyes, she is a warrior! An ironwoman! The strongest person I have ever witnessed in my life. From sacrificing vacations with her friends just so she can send me to school every morning, to sacrificing dreams of her own to make my dreams come true. I will never forget those times I broke down to her when my friends would ditch me or when someone talked bad about me. She always knew how to make me happy.
